It seems to us the pleasure of visiting a restaurant varies from person-to-person…even from Beagle-to-Beagle.
Many, if not most, people arrive at a restaurant without a reservation seeking a good meal in a pleasant environment with satisfactory service at a reasonable price. Simply stated, dining out is largely functional, i.e. one has to eat to survive, and dining out often is preferred to the home-made sandwich, noodle or dog biscuit.
Frankly, we do not count ourselves as a members of the “many” or “most” crowd. This largely reflects the fact if functional dining is all that is on offer, then we prefer to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at home, cooked by us, while in our pyjamas and, naturally, sipping our wines…breakfast excluded, which is why we share an apple or banana with a cup of espresso during the worst meal of the day!
Generally speaking, we are too lazy for functional dining.
Dining out for us SHOULD be an event
