Taipei
Taiwan

Shabu Shabu is a unique, apparently born in Japan style of cooking raw food by yourself in a boiling bowl of various liquids depending upon your preference.

Sadly, nothing about this venue encourages us to re-visit…or even suggest that you do unless you truly are craving for Shabu Shabu and happen to be in the neighbourhood.

Angelo’s 👍👍👍👍👌

For the linguistically challenged, Angelo’s is in Taipei, Taiwan.

Angelo, previously of Robuchon, is full-on Italian, classically trained in French cooking and very well-entrenched in all things Chinese food.  He can stay…forever!!!

Kenny is the sommelier.  Nice, young fella.  He was struggling as the restaurant had only just opened (2013) and the wine cellar was, well, no where near organised.  We had fun sorting out his boxes and choosing some very good wines to sip with the exceptional food.

Shi-Yang Restaurant 食養山房 👍👍

Songshan District, Taipei City
Taiwan

All about the ambience and setting…stunning!!! Once in a lifetime experience…literally, we never would visit again.  If you are in Taiwan, not even Taipei, then book a table and visit.  Definitely lunchtime as the place is all that from a visual and “feel good” perspective!

Food is healthy and good…nothing special.  No wine so we were less than pleased.

L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon 👍👍👍👍👌

Arguably, the greatest part of dining at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, aka Joey’s Place, anywhere in the world is that you know the food will be exceptional.

Taipei is no exception to this rule.

Photos below speak volumes.

Only reason we did not go for five thumbs up was, well, the wine list is just OK-lah…

La Luna 尚月中華時尚料理 👍👍👍

A non-descript entrance (except the hard to read sign) that we managed to miss two times while in the taxi – the taxi driver was clueless – rather rapidly evolves into an eating marvel.

Warning, please bring your own wine.  The wine “list” does not impress with a choice between “white” and “red”…and the one bottle in each category is the equivalent of cooking wine. Continue reading La Luna 尚月中華時尚料理 👍👍👍
