NV Vouette et Sorbée Champagne Fidèle

Tasting Note

The first bubble of our Champagne Cantonese Seafood Spectacular was dry as a baby’s bottom and Served in big bowl Chardonnay glasses to allow the nose to flourish.

Luvly, light purple on the eye.  Nose so perfectly Pinot Noir that we almost forgot it was champagne.

Wow!

Palate of vibrant, berry berries with a long, elegant finish. Just a very good wine! Good QPR.

2012 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc

TASTING NOTE

Wow, what a great wine!!!

Vivacious yellow with hints of green.  Opens with floral notes that transitions to a powerful blend of citrus fruits on the nose.  More than ready to sip now, but will likely develop into a different wine on the nose in the coming years.

The palate demonstrates the fantabulous vibrant balance we always find with SHL.  One of our favourite white Bordeaux and a significantly good reason for the existence of Sauvignon Blanc 😉

2012 Gaja Langhe Chardonnay Gaia & Rey

TASTING NOTE

Wow, wow, wow!!! Although many, many years to go before fully blossoming, this luvly baby (barely legal) was outstanding!

Light, straw yellow.  We see a much darker yellow in her future.

Bouquet of toasty oak, roasted almonds, vanilla and vibrant blend of citrus.  Currently a touch sharp on the nose, she mellowed out after an hour of breathing.  Never mind, we look forward to enjoying the evolution of this beautiful track star!  Beyonce-like body with racy, ripe fruit, flamboyant acidity and a long, lingering finish.  When she becomes the mature lady we expect by 2020, we will simply fall in love.

Burgundy? Napa? Hmm…Gaia & Rey steps up, challenges and clearly competes at the top!

2010 Château Eugenie Cahors Cuvée Reservee De l’Aieul

TASTING NOTE

Our artsy-fartsy friend went crazy with the dark purple ink attack on the eye. Fun!!!

Aromatic blend of blackberries and blueberries, some vanilla-cream and warmth.

Powerful dark fruits with firm structure and huge tannins.

Extraordinary QPR.

2014 Beringer Vineyards Chardonnay Private Reserve

TASTING NOTE

Very well-made, great balance of oak, acidity and touch of creamy vanilla.

Exceptional QPR.

Far from our favourite California Chardonnays, but a winner by any standard.

2011 Testarossa Pinot Noir Dos Rubios Vineyard

TASTING NOTE

We wanted something with some velvet glove, iron fist sorta characteristics to sip after our Indian curry with Syrah.  We decided another Testarossa was the way to go…probably more a reflection of our friend’s preference for soft yet juicy.

Dark red color. Vibrant perfume of flowers, cherries and lemon-lime-orange.  Excellent aromatic blend.

Palate of powerful fruit with silly tannins and a hint of toasty oak. Excellent. OK QPR.

2011 Testarossa Syrah Garys’ Vineyard

TASTING NOTE

We chose this luvly to step-up for our Indian curry dinner. She hit the ball right out of the park!

Dark purple-red colour. Aromas of black pepper, blueberries and some gamey notes.

Blueberries, spices, velvety tannins and a certain delicate power that explodes happiness on the palate as it confronts and blends with the vindaloo.

Very nice wine. QPR reasonable.
