NV Vouette et Sorbée Champagne Fidèle

Tasting Note

The first bubble of our Champagne Cantonese Seafood Spectacular was dry as a baby’s bottom and Served in big bowl Chardonnay glasses to allow the nose to flourish.

Luvly, light purple on the eye.  Nose so perfectly Pinot Noir that we almost forgot it was champagne.

Wow!

Palate of vibrant, berry berries with a long, elegant finish. Just a very good wine! Good QPR.

2012 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc

TASTING NOTE

Wow, what a great wine!!!

Vivacious yellow with hints of green.  Opens with floral notes that transitions to a powerful blend of citrus fruits on the nose.  More than ready to sip now, but will likely develop into a different wine on the nose in the coming years.

The palate demonstrates the fantabulous vibrant balance we always find with SHL.  One of our favourite white Bordeaux and a significantly good reason for the existence of Sauvignon Blanc 😉

2010 Château Eugenie Cahors Cuvée Reservee De l’Aieul

TASTING NOTE

Our artsy-fartsy friend went crazy with the dark purple ink attack on the eye. Fun!!!

Aromatic blend of blackberries and blueberries, some vanilla-cream and warmth.

Powerful dark fruits with firm structure and huge tannins.

Extraordinary QPR.

2011 Jean-Philippe Fichet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts

TASTING NOTE

Another recommend by Jordan at LQV.

Our first effort at Jean-Philippe Fichet…and a happy one it was!

Dainty and delicate on the nose and palate with floral aromas and a hint of almonds, honey and burnt caramel.  Very smooth and active on the palate.

We can see this luvly laying down for more than a few years. Thanks, Jordan!

2008 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Roussanne Vieilles Vignes

TASTING NOTE

Oh my ears and whiskers. We chose this wine to pair with Sichuan spicy food, and we could not have been more correct.

Wow, perfect!

A blend of 80% Roussanne, 15% Grenache blanc and 5% of other varieties. Pale, almost thick yellow on the eye was promising.

Bouquet reminded us of being in a flower shop and a candy shop at the same time as the melody of floral sweet honey drifted along our noses. Luvly.

Palate of smooth, voluptuous, creamy, slightly acidic fruits blended perfectly with the Sichuan spicy fish dish.

Just stunning!

2002 Louis Latour Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

TASTING NOTE

Wow, wow, wow!!!

The biggest issue is almost not wanting to sip because you know eventually the perfume of fabulous fruit and sous bois will forever leave you.

Seriously, we just cannot stop sniffing this luvly lady.  She is assaulting our nose – in a wonderful way – to a point where we are just awestruck.

The palate equally interesting with hints of ripe red fruits, elegant tannins, a touch of preserved veggies and a fairly long finish. Medium body on the palate…full body, Beyoncé style on the nose.

One of those examples of a wine that just lingers on the nose and sufficiently satisfies the palate. Curious…
